Advantages of Adopting an Adult Dog
- Weight, size, breed mix and coat length are already known
- Chewing is less of a problem
- Can tell if dog is a couch potato or very active
- Adult dogs CAN learn new tricks and have a longer attention span
- General temperament can be determined: shy, aggressive, dominant or submissive
- Usually already housebroken and better bladder control
- Easier for people who work-adult dogs can be left alone longer during the day
- May already know some basic commands such as sit, shake, stay or come
- Adult dogs are instant companions ready for hiking, car trips and other things you like to do.
- Adult dogs let you get a good night's sleep because they're accustomed to human schedules and don't need nighttime feedings, comforting or bathroom breaks.
